This splatter technique is Jackson Pollock inspired and incredibly easy. All you need is canvas (bigger the better), acrylic paint for background, a very large wide paintbrush and acrylic latex house paint. I just used leftover light green paint I had used to paint my bathroom. This type of paint works best for the splatter technique because of its thick texture.
First Step: Paint background with artist acrylic paint, I think a gradiant background with two colors looks good but I urge you to go with your own artistic vision. Paint the edges as well so you wont have to frame it. Leave 10-15 min to dry.
Second Step: When background has dried, dip large paintbrush in latex paint. Make sure there is a lot of paint on the brush so that it is dripping. Also make sure your canvas has newspaper underneath so you wont get paint on the floor. Move the brush in an up and down diagonal motion a few feet above the canvas for the affect in above pic. Leave painting flat while the latex paint dries (approx a day).
Third Step(optional): Spray varnish for shine.
